You know that question twins are tired of hearing? Yup, that one. “Are you guys twins?” Kenny and Denike are identical twins in the same school, but not in the same department. They live together, argue, and share cooking duties.
I asked them some questions about what being twins on campus is like and here we go.
How are you both doing today, on a scale of 1–10?
Kenny: 5 😍
Denike: 8
Why?
Kenny: Mixed feelings. 😂 As much as I’d love to stay home, school has resumed. Denike: Me I’m just in a good mood ni
Did you choose the same course?
Denike: No
Kenny: Nooo. She was in science class, I was in commercials. We’re not in the same department.
Do people treat you as one person?
Denike: Omo 😅 Different people treat us differently
Kenny: Some people expect us to be the exact same?
“Why is one of you wearing glasses?” “Why aren’t you both studying the same thing?”
Do you try to look alike on campus?
Kenny: Nope
Denike: Ehnn no oo.😂😂 I don’t like when people ask “are you guys twins?” on the road. It always feels weird
What's something people assume about you that’s not true?
Kenny: That I’m gentle
Denike: That I’m in a relationship, which I’m definitely not
Kenny: As per fine girl things 😂
So you’re roommates, how does that work?
Kenny: Omooo 😂 It’s all about understanding and tolerance. We do argue but we sha always talk it out eventually.
Who handles cooking?
Kenny: We have a routine o. You cook today, I cook tomorrow. But during exams or if one of us is tired, whoever has less stress will cook. Sometimes she even does more than me.
Do you have the same group of friends?
Kenny: Both 😹Different departmental friends, but mutual ones in places like church.
Have people ever befriended one of you just to get close to the other?
Kenny: I don’t think so.
Denike: I’m not sure, but maybe someone might have done that one way or another
Biggest fight on campus?
Kenny: Maybe the day we went for a concert on campus and were running back to the hostel because of rain. I was tired and couldn’t run fast, and we argued on the way.
Denike: I honestly can’t think of any fight o
Do you ever get tired of being seen together?
Denike: Sometimes...
Kenny: Not really
Have you ever pretended to be other?(Lectures, crushes... 👀)
Kenny: Nope
Denike: Nope 😅
What’s one moment that made you really grateful for your twin?
Denike: Anytime I’m sick 🥲❤️
Kenny: When she helps with chores. Honestly, she does more than me and I'm also able to relate better with people.
If you weren’t twins, would you still be this close?
Kenny: Maybe but she might just be a bully
Denike: I don’t know oo
They might be twins, but they’re two different girls, thank you very much. One wears glasses. One is “gentle” (allegedly). One dodges imaginary boyfriends. The other drags who cooks next.
They’re roommates, gist partners, and twin sisters..
